Plymouth North defeats Whitman-Hanson in 5 sets

The Panthers hosted Plymouth North on Wednesday and battled hard but ultimately lost 3 sets to 2. Game scores were 25-6, 22-25, 21-25, 25-18 and 6-15. In the first set the Panthers started out strong with great serving from Giulia Ruzcasio who served for 7 aces in the set and 9 aces overall for the match. The Panthers were solid in their passing game which allowed their hitters to get going for the first time in a few matches. The Panthers were able to limit their mistakes and capitalize on the mistakes made by Plymouth North to take the first set. In the second and third sets the Panthers couldn't get out of their own way and despite some great plays the Panthers mistakes resulted in them losing both sets. The Panthers struggle to keep themselves at a high level when they start making errors and this really hurt them in tonight's match. One mistake led to another and then another. In the fourth set the Panthers were able to rally behind their middle hitters who pushed the team to a victory in the set with their hitting and heads up play at the net. In the deciding the Panthers stumbled from the beginning letting Plymouth North get a lead that never looked back from. Foolish mistakes and sloppy passing kept the Panthers from making a real comeback in the set resulting in the loss of the set and ultimately the match. Playing well for the Panthers tonight were Sophie O'Brien with 14 kills and 4 blocks; Halle Julian with 11 kills and 7 blocks; Tori Perry with 25 assists and 3 aces and Jordyn Keith with 30 successful serve receives and 45 digs. The Panthers move to 1-5 on the season and host Pembroke on Friday.

Panthers defeated by Rockland

The Whitman-Hanson Panthers travelled to Rockland and played a tough match but could not overcame their struggles in serve receive to earn a victory. The game scores were 19-25, 18-25 and 21-25. The Panthers were once again hampered by difficulty in their passing game and as a result their hitters were never able to get anything going. Both teams played back forth throughout the match with each team taking leads and giving up leads, but in the end of each set Rockland was able to out serve the Panthers to earn the victory. Playing well tonight for the Panthers were Cathryn Johnson, Jordyn Keith who both played well defensively in the back row and Giulia Ruzcasio who helped keep the Panthers in the match with her tough serving. The Panthers move to 1-4 on the season and their next match is a home game against Plymouth North on Wednesday.

Panthers lose to Hingham

The Whitman-Hanson Panthers hosted Hingham tonight and lost a lopsided match 3 games to none. The game scores were 15-25, 12-25 and 8-25. The Panthers struggled in all phases of the game and could not keep up with the hitting and defense of Hingham. Whitman-Hanson started the match with strong serving from Amanda Anderson and Tori Perry but it wasn't enough to overcome the sloppy play of the Panthers defense. Once Hingham starting having success in their hitting game they never looked back to earn the match victory. The Panthers move to 1-3 on the season and travel to Rockland on Monday.

Panthers lose a tough match against North Quincy

The Whitman Hanson Panthers travelled to North Quincy for a tough league match up and lost 3-0.  Game scores were 15-25, 15-25 and 17-25.  The Panthers played tough but were unable to counter the attacking game of North Quincy. North Quincy capitalized on early passing struggles by Whitman-Hanson and never really looked back.  The Panthers struggled to get into their offense in match due poor passing and aggresive play by North Quincy. Playing well for the Panthers tonight was Jordyn Keith with 30 serve receives and Sophie O'Brien with 6 kills. The Panthers move to 1-2 on the season and host Hingham on Friday.

Panthers defeat Sachems 3-0

The Whitman-Hanson Panthers hosted Middleboro on Monday night and earned a solid victory defeating the Sachems 3-0. The game scores were 25-13, 27-25 and 25-20. Whitman-Hanson allowed the Sachems to get early leads in each of the sets but thanks to solid serving from Tori Perry (8 aces), Jordyn Keith (9 aces) and Amanda Anderson (8 aces) the Panthers were able to claw themselves back into each of the sets. The Panthers weren't able to get very much going in their attack because of challenges in their passing game but were able to capitalize on the hitting chances they had. Leading the Panther attack for the second game this season was Halle Julian who led the team with 11 kills and 7 blocks. Tri-Captain Jordyn Keith also played well at the Libero position getting 11 digs and 18 successful serve receives. The Panthers move to 1-1 on the season and travel to North Quincy on Wednesday.

W-H loses 3-1 to Bridgewater-Raynham

Whitman-Hanson volleyball hosted Bridgewater-Raynham on Wednesday and despite solid play all around lost the match 3-1. The game scores were 23-25, 25-27, 25-17 and 16-25. The Panthers had a hard time getting going as they worked to integrate 4 new starters for the varsity team. It took some time to shake of the first game jitters but the Panthers were able to play smart aggressive volleyball throughout the match that helped keep all of the sets within striking distance. In the 4th and deciding set the Panthers weren't able to overcome early serve receive mistakes despite bring the game back to within a few points. Bridgewater was able to use solid serving to keep the Whitman-Hanson hitters from getting going to finish out the 4th set and the match. The Panthers were led tonight by Jordyn Keith whose passing out of the Libero position allowed the teams hitters to attack the ball. Jordyn finished the game with 32 serve receives and 23 digs. Also playing well for the Panthers was Halle Julian who led the team with 10 kills and 10 blocks. The Panthers are 0-1 and host Middleboro on Monday.

Middle School Volleyball Clinic Starts March 14th!

We are again offering our volleyball clinics at Whitman and Hanson Middle Schools! The clinics will be held on Mondays and Thursdays immediately after school for 1.5 hours. The clinic will run from March 14th through May 26th and will cost $75. Below you will find links to the registration forms.
